Solution for Alarm Messages Appearing on the C2P Series Valve Terminal in Siemens TIA Portal V18 Software

2025-06-17

When customers use the C2P-PN series valve terminals, they configure them using Siemens TIA Portal V18 software. This document introduces solutions for common alarm messages.

1. Confirming Alarm Messages

In the TIA Portal software, click on the added I/O module, navigate to "Online & Diagnostics," then click "Diagnostic Status." The diagnostic interface will display alarm messages. As shown in the figure below, alarms may include "No diagnostic data available because the current online configuration data differs from the offline configuration data," "Not possible," etc.

2. Alarm Cause Analysis and Solutions

1. TIA Portal Alarm: "No diagnostic data available because the current online configuration data differs from the offline configuration data"

  • Possible Cause: Configuration not downloaded.

  • Solution: As shown in the figure below, switch to offline mode, right-click the module, and download the hardware.

2. TIA Portal Alarm: "Not possible - I/O module fault - I/O device not found"

  • Possible Causes:

    • (1) Loose or damaged Ethernet cable.

    • (2) Network interference caused by broadcast storms.

  • Solution:

    • Check if the Ethernet cable is loose. Also, observe the L/A0 and L/A1 indicator lights on the valve terminal (indicating communication status for the IN and OUT ports respectively).

  • If both the cable and indicators are normal, try connecting the PLC directly to the module, bypassing the network, to check for network environment issues.

  • If network issues are confirmed, reorganize the network topology, isolate the external network, replace with a managed switch, and utilize the switch's built-in broadcast storm suppression function to mitigate interference.

3. TIA Portal Alarm: "Not possible - I/O module fault - Device type differs"

  • Possible Cause: The configured device module type does not match the actual physical module.

  • Solution: For example, if the physical module model is C2P-PN-06B, but the configuration uses C2P-PN-16B or C2P-PN-24B, the device type mismatch causes the fault. Delete the incorrectly configured device and add the correct module (e.g., C2P-PN-08B). See the corresponding scenario in the figure below.
